Oribe Green and White Planter with Drainage Plate
This green and white planter has a cool and edgy vibe; it could work well indoors or out. It's perfect for a patio or balcony, or a kitchen counter. It has 2 drainage holes in the bottom, about the size of a bean. The drainage plate is attached.
This planter stands 5 1/2" tall, and its about 8" wide at the lip. At the base, it's about 6 1/2" across the outer rim of the plate. The pot is wider than the plate at the bottom, and there's a bit of extra weight at the bottom to keep it nice and stable.
All of my pottery is microwave and dishwasher safe unless otherwise noted.
The planter was made on my potters wheel using a stoneware clay. White slip (a blend of clay and water) was applied to the outside of the pot to add some texture and color variation to the clay. A dip of White Liner glaze was applied to the top few inches of the pot, and a dip of Oribe Green glaze was added to bottom section of the pot. During the firing a blush of red appeared in one spot where the oxygen reduction caused the copper in the oribe green glaze to turn red - this is a cool effect from the gas reduction firing. The inside of the pot was left unglazed, except for the very bottom which has a coat of the Oribe glaze.
