Small Swirled Oil Bottle with Rutile Glaze
This vibrant bottle is a perfect serving piece for an infused olive oil or a specialty vinegar, or liquor, or really anything you might dispense from a pretty bottle. The thick coat of rutile glaze creates a beautiful, swirling lavender blue color palette.
The bottle stands 6 1/2 inches tall without the spout (so it's around 9" tall with the metal spout). It's 4" wide at the widest part of the shoulder, and it holds around 375 ml (a bit over 12 oz). This is a great size for those smaller bottles (usually around 250 ml) of specialty oils or vinegars.
The bottle was thrown on my potters wheel using Laguna Rods Bod clay. To add the spiral shape, I pressed a rib against the outer wall of the pot, as my fingers pressed from the inside. I moved my hands up the pot as it spun, pressing it into the swirl shape. The bottle was glazed (inside and out) in 2 coats of Rutile glaze, which created the beautiful swirling blues and lavenders.
All of my pottery is microwave and dishwasher safe.
