Tenmoku Black and Brown Oil Bottle with Dip Bowl

$52.00

This handmade bottle is perfect for serving any kind of oil or vinegar, or any other liquid you may want to serve out of something beautiful. The spiral shape makes this bottle pleasant to grasp and easy to handle. The small bowl pictured is included and can be used as a condiment bowl or an oil bowl (for dipping bread), or it can just be a handy little bowl for nuts or candies.

This bottle stands 8 1/4 inches tall without the spout (bit over 10" tall with). At the widest point it's about 4" across, and it holds around 19oz (over 500 ml). The spout fits securely, and it's a nice weight at 1lb 6oz. The swirl shape provides a secure grip from either the right of the left.

The bottle was thrown on my potters wheel using Laguna Rods Bod clay. To add the spiral shape, I pressed the rounded end of a rib in against the outside wall of the pot, as my fingers pressed out from the inside. I moved my hands up the pot as it spun, pressing it into the swirl shape. The interior, lip and top 1/2 inch was glazed in Goldspot glaze, which is a warm golden tan. The outside of the pot was glazed in Tenmoku, which is a brown and black glaze - the glaze is black only where it's thickest, so the swirls and textures of the pot are highlighted by the change in color.

The matching crock shown in the last 3 pictures is available in a separate listing.
