Gray and Cobalt Blue Textured Bud Vase

$30.00

This Gray and Blue Textured Bud Vase is a perfect little vase for flowers or feathers, or any small thing that you want to display. This would brighten up any bathroom, bookshelf or end table. The vase is a soft gray, with bright blue slip texture all around the belly of the vase. The soft blue and gray would blend beautifully with many other color schemes.

The vase stands 5 inches tall, and measures just under 3" across the lip. All of my pottery is microwave and dishwasher safe.

This piece was thrown using a blend of white and gray clays - you barely can see the marbling of the clays beneath the glaze, and it creates a soft gray hue. Blue slip was used to create the blue texture around the belly (slip is a blend of clay and water, mixed to a milkshake consistency). The slip was painted thickly around the belly of the pot while it was wet on the wheel. A jagged brush was used to add texture through the thick slip, as the pot was slowly spinning on the wheel.

The vase was glazed in Milky Gloss, a soft white glaze which allows the color to show through, but softens it a bit. The glaze also highlights the blue slip texture nicely.
