Robins Egg Blue Planter with Drainage
Robins Egg Blue Planter with Drainage
Bring a touch of color and charm to your space with this small handmade planter in glossy robin’s egg blue. Its soft green-blue glaze and rounded form add a cheerful accent to any shelf, windowsill, or outdoor garden nook. The subtle white slip texture beneath the glaze gives the surface a lively depth that catches the light beautifully.
Details
This planter measures approximately 4¾" wide at the lip and 3¾" tall. It’s made from white stoneware and features three small drainage holes, each about the size of a pea, with an attached drainage plate to protect surfaces from excess water.
The piece is glazed in a transparent robin’s egg blue, allowing the textured slip to show through. Fired to cone 6 (around 2200° F) for lasting strength and durability.
Use
Perfect for a small succulent, cactus, or herb, this planter brightens up any indoor space and works beautifully outdoors as well. Its integrated drainage plate makes it easy to care for your plants while keeping surfaces tidy.
Process
This planter was made on my potter’s wheel using cone 5 B-Mix, a white stoneware clay. A textured layer of slip (a mix of clay and water) was applied with a jagged brush to create organic ridges and depth. The form was finished with a glossy robins egg blue glaze over the entire exterior and saucer. The piece was fired to Cone 6 in my electric kiln, at my studio in Avondale Arizona.
