Speckled White Oil or Vinegar Bottle
Speckled White Oil or Vinegar Bottle
This handcrafted stoneware bottle combines rustic charm with simple elegance. A clean white glaze overlays an iron-rich clay body, allowing natural speckles to show through. Gentle swirls in the form add character and make it a delight to hold, while the neutral finish ensures it fits beautifully in any space.
Details
Measuring about 6 1/4" tall (without the spout), this bottle is made from durable cone 10 stoneware. It's a bit over 4" across at the widest spot on the belly, and it holds 14 ounces (or around 400 ml). I'll include both a metal spout and a plastic spout with this bottle, so you can use the one that best suits your needs.
Its speckled surface is the result of natural iron flecks in the clay body, revealed through the white glaze during firing. Glazed in white and fired in a reduction kiln to cone 10, the bottle is both strong and distinctive, safe for food, microwave use, and the dishwasher.
Use
Perfect as a serving vessel for oils, vinegars, or syrups, this piece also works well as a small flower vase or a stand-alone accent. Its speckled surface pairs especially well with farmhouse, rustic, or natural décor.
Process
The bottle was thrown on the potter’s wheel, with the form shaped to include a subtle swirl through the body. Once dried and bisque fired, it was finished with a white glaze that highlights the natural speckling of the clay. The final cone 10 reduction firing adds depth and variation to the glaze, making every bottle unique.
