True Blue and Black Oil Bottle
True Blue and Black Oil Bottle
This striking blue handmade bottle is a unique piece of functional art, wheel-thrown from durable white stoneware clay and glazed in a deep cobalt blue with a glossy finish. The shape is both sculptural and practical, featuring a swirled and textured form and a removable spout.
Perfect for use as an olive oil or vinegar cruet, decanter, altar oil bottle, ritual vessel, or decorative accent, this one-of-a-kind piece brings bold color and craftsmanship into any space.
The shape makes this bottle easy and pleasant to use. It includes 2 spouts, a plastic spout (pictured) and a metal spout. The plastic spout is recommended for vinegar. All of my pottery is microwave and dishwasher safe.
DIMENSIONS
This bottle stands 7 inches tall without the spout, and it's approximately 5" wide at the shoulder. The black plastic spout pictured will add about an inch in height; the metal spout (also included) will add more like 1 1/2" inches. This bottle holds 16 ounces.
The bottle was thrown on my pottery wheel using BMix5 clay. I used a thick layer of slip (clay that's been watered down and blended smooth) and a jagged brush to create the texture around the top of the bottle. The interior and lip was glazed in my Midnight glaze, and the outside was glazed in True Blue. The bottle was fired in my electric kiln to cone 6, approximately 2200° F.
