White and Blue Slipped and Swirled Vase
White and Blue Slipped and Swirled Vase
This handmade flower vase features a dynamic swirl form, with flowing blue slip winding around the soft white surface. The blue swirl follows the curves and contours of the vase, creating a sense of movement that shifts as the piece is viewed from different angles. A semi-transparent milky white glaze softens the blue, allowing subtle variations in color to show through while keeping the overall look fresh and understated.
Standing just over 6 inches tall, this one-of-a-kind vase is a lovely way to display a small bouquet or a few favorite stems. Its gently twisting form and classic blue-and-white palette make it an easy addition to a variety of spaces, whether styled on a shelf, bedside table, or kitchen counter.

Use
This vase is suitable for fresh flowers, small bouquets, or a few individual stems. Add water and your favorite blooms for a simple floral arrangement, or display it on its own as a decorative accent. Its compact size makes it a good fit for smaller spaces where a little color and handmade character can go a long way.
Process
This vase was thrown on my potters wheel using white BMix cone 5 clay. As this piece was being thrown, the blue texture was painted around the wet pot with a blue slip (clay that's been watered down and blended smooth with blue stain). The swirl shape was then added by pressing into the side of the pot, through the wet slip, using the rounded end of a rubber rib. As my fingers pressed out from the interior of the pot, the rib and my interior hand moved quickly up the pot as it spun, pressing in the swirl shape with a single pass. After the slip and swirl was applied to the pot, the neck was collared in, and the lip was flared and finished.
This piece was glazed both inside and out using my semi-transparent Milky Gloss White glaze. The vase was fired to Cone 6 in an electric kiln at my studio in Avondale Arizona.

This one-of-a-kind wood fired mug combines rich purple glaze with a deeply textured brown surface, creating a beautiful contrast between glossy color and earthy texture. The organic, ridged surface gives the mug a tactile quality that makes it especially enjoyable to hold, while the deep blue-purple glaze adds a bold pop of color around the upper portion.
At approximately 12 ounces, this mug is a comfortable size for coffee, tea, or your favorite everyday drink. Like all of my pottery, it is made by hand and designed to be both beautiful and functional.
