Lilac Small Textured Pottery Mug
Lilac Small Textured Pottery Mug
The flowing texture and layered lilac glaze give this handmade pottery mug a calm, organic feel that's both beautiful and inviting. Gentle shifts from lavender to deep violet catch the light across the textured surface, while the white interior creates a timeless contrast. It's a mug designed to be enjoyed every day and appreciated a little more each time it's used.
Designed for quieter moments, this smaller mug is perfect for those who appreciate a more modest serving size. Whether it's your morning coffee, an afternoon tea, or a cozy evening drink, this handcrafted mug adds warmth and beauty to everyday rituals.
Details
Stands 3 1/4" tall, measures 3 1/2" wide across the lip, and will hold 8 ounces with extra room for milk and sugar. This sweet little mug is ideal for espresso, cappuccino, or herbal tea. It's also a great gift idea for kids, or for pairing with a larger mug as a cute gift set.
Use
These mugs are perfect for a smaller, more intentional cup - ideal for espresso drinks, tea, or a quick morning coffee. Their size makes them especially suited for cappuccinos, cortados, or an afternoon warm drink, encouraging a slower, more relaxed ritual. They also work wonderfully for kids’ drinks or as a cozy companion cup alongside a larger mug.

Process
These mugs were made with cone 5 B-Mix (white stoneware) clay on my potter's wheel. Slip (a blend of water and clay blended smooth) was applied to the outside of the mug while it was still wet on the wheel. To create the texture, a ragged brush was drug through the wet slip as the cup spun on the wheel.
These mugs were glazed with Milky Gloss White glaze on the interior and rim. The outer mug was glazed in my Lilac glaze. This is a transparent, glossy glaze that runs and flows around the slip texture. The texture adds some light and shadow play to the lilac color, and it feels nice to touch.
