This lovely handmade jar is a fantastic container for storing sugar or spices, or it could be a beautiful little round box for jewelry or other keepsakes. This container is a soft lilac purple color, bright and cheery, with a clean, milk white interior. It will look lovely sitting out on any kitchen countertop, accent table or bookshelf.

DIMENSIONS
The jar stands about 3 1/2 inches tall to the top of the lid. The inner opening is 2 3/4" wide, and the jar is about 3 3/4" wide at it's widest part. The base measures 3 1/4" across, and this jar can hold 1 cup.

The jar was created on my pottery wheel using white stoneware BMix 5 clay. The jar's lid and body were thrown as a single, enclosed piece. The lid was cut away from the body, and each side was trimmed to fit. To add the texture, I painted a layer of slip (clay and water blended smooth) around the outside of the jar and lid. I then used a jagged brush and the spinning potter's wheel to paint the texture in through the smooth wet slip.

The jar was glazed in white Milky Gloss glaze on the interior, and my Lilac glaze on the exterior. It was fired to cone 6 (around 2200° F) in my electric kiln. All of my pottery is microwave and dishwasher safe.
